This duet was made in 2022 for Velocity Dance Centers Next Fest Northwest. Audre Lorde said, “we have to define ourselves for ourselves.” As a Black, queer, femme, I’ve witnessed my community put this into practice; resisting erasure by building worlds we can thrive in. This piece reflects how critical these worlds are for folks with my intersecting identities to feel safe within themselves. It also looks at the depth in which we care for each other in queer friendships.
